Integrated Health Care Physician

Dr. Peter Manu joined SouthLight in early 2025 as the Primary Care Lead Physician of SouthLight’s Integrated Care program. This new service was launched in March 2025 to provide stabilization of physical health to clients of SouthLight and monitor the impact on client outcomes.  

Dr. Manu graduated with an M.D. degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, Romania. He completed a residency in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian/Queens and was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He taught at the State University of New York/ Upstate College of Medicine, the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. His research work focused on clinical decision analysis, chronic fatigue, and the metabolic complications of antipsychotic drugs. 

Peter Manu is considered an expert in the management of medical issues of patients with severe mental illnesses. He is a Co-Editor of the Handbook of Medicine in Psychiatry, published by the American Psychiatric Press in 2006, 2015 and 2020. He has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. He enjoys reading, classical music, walking and kayaking.
