As Senior Director of OTP Medical Operations, Ben Powell, PA-C, oversees clinical quality and operational excellence for SouthLight’s Opioid Treatment Program, helping ensure the clinic runs smoothly and effectively for both clients and employees. Though much of his work focuses on strengthening clinical operations, Ben is continually energized by direct patient care and the opportunity to support individuals on their path to recovery.

Ben has been part of the SouthLight team since 2017. He first discovered his passion for Addiction Medicine while completing a rotation here during his Physician Assistant training at Campbell University. Witnessing individuals rise from the depths of addiction and reclaim their lives is what continues to bring him a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Ben is also committed to developing the next generation of providers, teaching and mentoring through UNC’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs.
