David joined FHLI from the Durham Children’s Initiative where he served as president & CEO for 12 years. He brings more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience to the organization. Throughout his career, David’s work has focused on addressing social drivers of health within communities, creating opportunities for marginalized families, and developing opportunities
for children to succeed.

David previously served as the COO for food recovery and distribution at the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. He is the past co-chair of the Partnership for a Healthy Durham, past vice chair of the Northeast Central Durham Leadership Council, and previous board member of Downtown Durham Rotary Club and Leadership Triangle. David currently serves on the United Way of the Greater Triangle Board of Directors and the Truist Bank local Advisory Board. In 2006, he was recognized as one of the Triangle Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under
40” business leaders.

David holds a Master of Business Administration. He hails from the Bronx, NY, and lives in Durham with his wife, Iris, and their three children
