A Dream Realized: SouthLight’s Raleigh Hub Renovations Are Complete

March 31, 2025

SouthLight is proud to announce the completed renovation of our Raleigh Hub, an 18,360- square-foot outpatient treatment center located on Garner Road, Raleigh. Made possible by a successful $3.5 million Capital Campaign, the facility’s transformation increases our capacity to serve people struggling with substance use and mental health and will ensure they receive the quality care they need in an environment that fosters healing and reflects our commitment to compassion, dignity, and care excellence.

New Spaces, Services, and Staff

The renovated facility features a spacious central reception area, a greatly expanded Drop-In Center, an on-site pharmacy, new and additional counseling rooms designed for comfort and confidentiality, more dedicated areas for group therapy, as well as new lab space and medical offices. All the new spaces are designed to create a welcoming environment that reflects our commitment to compassion, dignity, and care excellence.

In response to the increasing community need, we’ve grown our intake teams, peer support services, community-based support work, and group counseling, and we’re also creating and recently launched  Integrated Care to address physical health in addition to behavioral health. And we’ve created new positions focused on Social Determinants of Health for our expanded Drop-In Center to strengthen our ability to address clients’ social needs.

A Noticeable Impact

The changes have already been felt and noticed by program participants and staff. When he walked into the new reception area for the first time, client Gary observed, “It’s more inviting, more relaxing.” For Dina, the Raleigh Hub is a beacon of hope. “I love it,” she said. “I’m seeing people smile more and hearing others talk about how they love the new spaces.”

“I hear regularly how much nicer the building feels,” shared Shaun Thomas, Director of our Opioid Treatment Program. “As a counselor, it’s satisfying to serve our clients in an environment that more accurately reflects the level of care and respect we feel for them.”

Support Made It Possible

This achievement is possible thanks to the incredible generosity of community partners. SouthLight extends its deep gratitude to our Board of Directors along with the many donors, foundations, and partners for helping us bring this vision to life. In particular, we recognize Alliance Health, SECU Foundation, Leon Levine Foundation, A.J. Fletcher Foundation, White Memorial Presbyterian Church, Rob and Linda Grew, and The Cannon Foundation for their leadership gifts, which played a critical role in making this renovation a reality.

Ready for the Future

Providing greater access to quality services is a key focus of SouthLight’s efforts. The Raleigh Hub is an example of our commitment to being the first CARF accredited Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in North Carolina. It reflects our values and our efforts to provide health services to achieve the best outcomes for our participants. With this renovation complete, we are even better positioned to fulfill that mission and continue our work as a critical community resource.
