New SouthLight mobile clinic at Oak City Cares provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), counseling, and overdose prevention resources for Wake County residents
SouthLight Healthcare is pleased to announce the launch of SouthLight Mobile, a new opioid treatment clinic on wheels that brings compassionate, evidence-based care directly into Wake County communities. The first parked location is Oak City Cares, where SouthLight will provide services from 7–10 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Funded through Wake County’s Opioid Settlement Funds, SouthLight Mobile expands access to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for individuals struggling with opioid use disorder. The mobile clinic will reduce barriers to care, particularly for individuals facing transportation challenges, stigma, or limited access to traditional clinic-based services.
Employing a combination of FDA-approved medication with counseling, support services, and harm-reduction resources, this life-saving treatment is designed to provide care in a safe, confidential environment.
“A mobile dosing unit is more than a vehicle—it is a lifeline that brings treatment directly to people who might otherwise face significant barriers to care,” says Adam Hartzell, CEO of SouthLight Healthcare. “The opioid settlement funds are allowing us to meet individuals where they are so we can reduce transportation challenges, expand access in underserved communities, and ensure that life-saving medication and support services are available when and where they are needed most.”
SouthLight’s first scheduled mobile clinic location is at Oak City Cares, in Raleigh, North Carolina. The mobile clinic is open to Oak City Cares guests, Wilmington Street Shelter residents, and community members seeking treatment and support. Walk-ins are welcome, and services are available regardless of insurance status.
Services Offered at the SouthLight Mobile Clinic
SouthLight Mobile also connects individuals to the organization’s comprehensive behavioral health care, which includes mental health services, counseling, psychiatry, peer support, and case management through its comprehensive outpatient and community-based programs.
As one of the area’s largest nonprofit providers of behavioral health care, SouthLight has a 56-year history of helping individuals and families find hope and healing. The new mobile clinic reflects SouthLight’s commitment to meeting people where they are, delivering care with dignity, and providing a pathway to wellness that continues beyond the mobile visit.
A second mobile clinic location is expected to launch in Fall 2026. Updated locations, schedules, and additional information are available at SouthLight Healthcare.

The opioid crisis continues to impact communities across North Carolina, with rising overdose deaths and barriers that prevent people from accessing care. Many individuals who need treatment lack reliable transportation or face stigma when seeking help.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combines safe, FDA-approved medications with counseling and support services to help individuals manage cravings, reduce relapse, and rebuild their lives.
By taking this care on the road, SouthLight Mobile helps ensure that treatment, support, and hope are within reach—backed by the same compassionate, integrated care that SouthLight has provided for more than five decades.
