SouthLight Healthcare announced that it has been awarded CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accreditation, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to excellence in mental health and addiction treatment.
SouthLight has been accredited for Behavioral Health Services since 1996, and for its Opioid Treatment Program since 2002. Every three years, behavioral health agencies must undergo this rigorous accreditation process to ensure it meets the quality standards. Meeting the standards over the past 28 years confirms SouthLight’s dedication to excellence.
Additionally, for the first time, SouthLight was accredited as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and it distinguishes SouthLight as North Carolina’s first and only CCBHC to earn this recognition.
As a CCBHC, SouthLight commits to providing increased access to care for everyone who needs it and serves as a community hub for mental health and substance use services. The CARF accreditation of the CCBHC acknowledges SouthLight’s adherence to over 100 quality metrics and excellence in service provision.
Kathryn Schley, SouthLight’s Chief Strategy Officer, who oversees the CCBHC efforts, stated, “The CARF accreditation of the CCBHC highlights our commitment to serve more people, more efficiently, with a focus on quality. We are proud to serve our community and to be recognized for the excellent, compassionate, person-centered care we provide each day.”

CARF accreditation is an internationally respected symbol of quality and standards in health and human services, demonstrating an organization’s dedication to improving service quality and enhancing client outcomes.
For clients and the community, SouthLight’s CARF accreditation means receiving care from an organization that has demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement, transparency, and excellence in service delivery.
CARF praised SouthLight for its dedication to quality care, stating, “This achievement is an indication of your organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served. Services, personnel, and documentation clearly indicate an established pattern of conformance to standards.”
For over 54 years, SouthLight has been dedicated to restoring lives and renewing hope through innovative and compassionate mental health and substance use treatment.
This accreditation further reinforces SouthLight’s role as a trusted provider and a leader in setting the standard for comprehensive, high-quality care in North Carolina.
