A message of HOPE
The temperature drops. Decorative lights flicker. Friends and families gather.
For many, the holiday season is a joyful time. For others, the first signs of winter only deepen the desperation that accompanies untreated addiction and mental illness. At times like these, a loving, caring recovery community can feel so far away.
Yet I am writing to you with a message of HOPE.
For hundreds of individuals who walk through the doors of SouthLight’s outpatient treatment center each day, hope is more than just a word—it’s a lifeline. This year, hope has taken on even greater significance as we continue the comprehensive renovation of our outpatient treatment center. Serving over 600 people daily, our center offers lifesaving care to those struggling with substance use and mental health disorders.
Shaun Thomas, the Assistant Director of our Opioid Treatment Program, is emphatic about the renovation’s impact on the treatment of SouthLight’s clients. “Clients regularly comment on how much nicer the building feels,” Shaun said. “As a counselor, it’s satisfying to serve our clients in an environment that more accurately reflects the level of care and respect we feel for them.”
With two-thirds of the renovation complete, it is truly making a difference. When “Gary”, a client, walked into the new reception area for the first time, he was wide eyed. He leaned comfortably back in his chair and took in the renovated space. His body language conveyed he felt valued and cared for. “It’s more inviting, more relaxing,” Gary shared.
We are close to our fundraising goal
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, SouthLight has nearly reached our $3.5 million goal to cover renovation costs. But we’re not there yet—and that’s why we need your help.
We are closer than ever to realizing our vision of a state-of-the-art facility that will expand access to treatment for underserved members of our community. Your donation will not only help complete the renovation of our 18,360 sq. ft. center but also ensure that more people receive the care they need to overcome addiction, heal from trauma, and reclaim their lives.
